Sensor-based lab investigations provide rich opportunities for students to go beyond just textbooks and connect science with real-life applications. Lab sensors help students learn any concept in-depth, and help them develop hands-on experience. Students can spend more time exploring and performing experiments that were difficult or impossible before. The wireless technology is compatible with students' i phones and Chromebooks and also helps schools save money by eliminating the need for a separate device to connect sensors to a computer, tablet or smartphone. Students can simply transmit the data directly from the wireless sensor to their device. Lab sensors and lab technology help teachers to integrate inquiry-based learning and is aligned with "Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)". These sensors help teachers and students to empower students to think and act like scientists and apply that thinking to real-world situations. It’s more than just memorizing facts. When students can measure and analyze, they become more engaged, curious, and inquisitive. “Go Direct Colorimeter” is a lab based sensor and technology can be connected to any platforms via Bluetooth or a USB and helps in collecting live data to explore and conduct variety of experiment in my On-level Chemistry and AP Chemistry classes. Following experiments can be conducted if I am able to get funding for this lab sensor/equipment to conduct Beer’s law investigations, determine the concentration of unknown solutions, study changes in concentration vs. time, and monitor reaction rates.
