My Project
A few years ago, I created an "Adopt a Book" shelf for our school library. This is a place that students and staff can pick out books to take home to help build their home libraries. The book selections for this shelf include books that have been donated to the library that can't be used (too many copies, paperbacks, etc.) or books that I have removed from the library collection due to their condition (loose spines, beat up covers, etc.). These books are still able to be read, but have seen better days and have been replaced with newer copies. And, for a great number of our students, this is the ONLY way that they are able to get books for their home libraries.
Just because a book may no longer be bright and shiny and new doesn't mean that it can't still be enjoyed and loved.
The Adopt a Book Shelf that I created has been a big hit over the years with the kids. However, the shelf that I have now is FALLING APART. I would like to replace it with the cart that I am asking for. I think the cart may be an improvement over the current shelf because 1) it holds more books, and 2) because it is on wheels, I can bring it to the classrooms if need be.
My job as a librarian is to get books into the hands of the kids in whatever way possible that I can. This library cart will help me continue to do that. Thank you for your consideration and for supporting Donors Choose.
