Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful students come from the neighborhood around the school and are a delight to teach. We are a Title I school, and the boys and girls represent a diverse population. I love my position as the school librarian and enjoy seeing the classes once per week. I have created Literature Review Buckets for each table. They rotate each week. Students have about 30 different books to read and reviews during library class. We would like to add new books to our Literature Review Buckets. They have asked about the Pinkalicious books. They are each based on different colors.
My Project
My students come to the library every week excited to look at our literature collection. I have a variety of books selected each week for each table to review. These books need to be high-interest books that the students want to read. We currently do not have any of the Pinkalicious books by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann.
With fourteen new Pinkalicious books the students will be adding a little sparkle to their reading.
Each table would get a different collection of books to review each week. After all the buckets have been rotated through each table, the books would be changed. This is one of the exciting ways I get students hooked on reading and become lifelong readers. A lot of the students have asked if we have any of the Pinkalicious books. We currently do not have any.
