Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special education teacher, my students often love participating in physical activities alongside typically developing peers. While some are able to fully participate in activities, some students require some modifications or alternative activities due to their gross motor abilities. Games such as basketball can be challenging for some, but with a modified hoop that is easier to reach, my students can still enjoy the game alongside peers. Other games such as tennis or badminton present challenges, but scoop ball is a great alternative for those who struggle with swinging a racket. My goal is to include all students in the fun physical activities that most of us enjoy, while also considering their individual needs. It is so important for us to move our bodies each day, and movement breaks for my students are especially important. Thank you so much for your consideration and support of our special needs population! We can’t wait to get moving!
