This project focuses on our most vulnerable population of students in a self-contained setting for students with disabilities. Due to our students' multiple disabilities, many of them, face a multitude of barriers to access art projects due to their needs in areas such as fine and gross motor skill development, as well as communication abilities and physical therapy needs.
Many of our students are confined to a wheelchair and communicate with us through the mode of an adaptive communication device or AAC.
They select from choices by eye gaze, pointing or verbalization during lessons and interact with the activities through sensory exploration.
These art supplies will allow our students to engage in art lessons to create an autobiographic comic book, contribute to our school community by providing decorations for our school wide events such as student of the month ceremonies and our holiday dances.
