My Students

DETERMINED,AMAZING,CURIOUS! The list goes on and on. The 25 children that I have been blessed with this year are very inquisitive and love learning. They are the most motivated students I have had the privilege to teach in my 18 years of teaching.

The most inspiring thing about my students is the curiosity that they exude in the classroom each day.

They love to learn and I love to see them engrossed in hands on projects that promote problem solving and teamwork.

My Project

Science should be a hands on classroom where students get to explore science by reading and completing experiments. It is hard to find appropriate materials to use when textbooks and text sets aren't available. The high interest nonfiction text set that I have requested, or begged and pleaded for, would be great to make science come alive. The students will be provided the opportunity to read a variety of text types on one subject. This not only offers them the opportunity to read about the topic but provides such a deep reading experience at the same time.

I can only imagine the excitement as a students picks up the Solar System Science Viewer and gets to see real world pictures of space and gets to manipulate the viewer.

I get excited just thinking about it!

A space theme book library has also been requested. These books will be used as read alouds during this unit to model great reading and thinking strategies and to get the students excited about the learning process.
