Help me give my students a computer table that can be used to project lessons/activities, a locking file cabinet to store items, and laundry washer pods to help our students who are in need of clean clothes.
My fifth grade students are very special to me for many reasons. They are very independent, full of energy, and passionate young learners. Being independent and having a love for learning are very important assets that I like to instill in my students since they will be going to the middle school next year in which being independent and passionate will help them thrive and succeed. My fifth-grade students really enjoy working hard and succeeding in the classroom and I want to encourage them to be life long learners.
Many of my students struggle with specific areas in Virginia Studies and Science, because they are in a fast-paced learning environment and it is important to have the necessary tools and equipment to meet all of their learning needs.
A majority of our students in our Title I school come from low-income families with limited resources due to our small rural community. My students are caring, energetic, and full of life! I want them to be successful and have the materials and support that they need in order to succeed and become life long learners.
My Project
The computer desk will allow me to place my laptop or another student computer on it and connect it to my Promethean Board to display lessons and activities for my students. I will also be able to place my DVD player on the desk and connect it to my Promethean Board to show my students educational science videos that relate to our lessons. The desk is a great form of storage for my lessons and activities as well.
My 21st century learners respond best to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning, and having a desk to support my laptop and DVD player will allow me to meet their learning needs and make Science and Social Studies exciting, entertaining, and interactive.
The desk will also be useful because it can be moved easily and I will be able to move it back and forth as needed. The students will enjoy having a moveable desk that easily slides out of the way of an activity or experiment, and can be moved back when introducing a lesson or showing a video. This will allow me to meet the needs of all my students through technology, videos, activities, pictures, and lessons.
The locking file cart will be able to hold many of the student's supplies and other Science activities, such as chemicals used for an experiment. The cart is moveable and can safely store items away under lock and key. The laundry washer pods will be wonderful to keep classroom items clean and fresh. The laundry washer pods will also help out at the nurse’s station for those students who are in need of extra clothes or replacement clothes.
