My Project

My students are energetic, enthusiastic, and always ready to move! They come to Adaptive Physical Education eager to participate, but many face physical or cognitive challenges that make it difficult to engage in traditional activities. Each student deserves the opportunity to be active, independent, and successful during PE—and adaptive technology helps make that possible.

This project will bring accessible technology into our Adaptive PE program by adding a Switch button and a PowerLink control unit.

These devices allow students with limited mobility to activate electrical or battery-powered equipment with a simple press of a button.

With this setup, students will be able to turn on a fan to throw scarves for their classmates, start a bubble machine for sensory play, or activate a music player to signal the next movement station. These small actions create big moments of independence and joy for students who typically need adult assistance.

Physical activity is for everyone—but accessibility is key. The Switch and PowerLink give my students control over their environment, encourage participation, and make physical education more inclusive. By pressing a button, they can take part in fitness routines, sensory stations, and cause-and-effect activities that build confidence, coordination, and engagement.

Every “click” of the switch is a victory—a step toward independence and inclusion for my incredible students. With your support, my students will gain access to meaningful movement experiences that celebrate what they can do.
