My Students

Students are very excited when they come to journalism class. It is the period when they can express themselves and have conversations. We start by discussing news that happened at school or in the neighborhood. We break into groups and voice opinions. They have well thought out opinions and ideas.

We are a United Nations mix of students.

We rank in the top forty for diversity in the NYC Public School system. My classes range from Special Ed. to General Ed. The students are very respectful and aware of the importance of schooling. They just want a chance to expand their technology experience. Given the chance, they can learn to record events and become engineers. They have the ability and the heart, now they need the tools.

My Project

Initially, I want students to understand the need for audio recording and editing. We will start with multiple microphones recording their ideas and beliefs about a journalism subject. We then will branch out into recording theater plays. Each character will hold their own microphone. This SD Recorder allows up to eight. They can read the play and later be able to upload it as a podcast for their parents to hear. We are also part of the Law School.

I foresee expanding using the Recorder to record Mock Trials where the lawyers, the judge and witnesses will all be mic'ed up.

With this recorder the sound will be clear and audible.
