My Students
My students face many immense challenges at a low-income/high risk/high poverty/high ELL (English Language Learner) community. Despite these continuous daily challenges, they are extremely dedicated to learning and to the creative freedom that the arts provides for them to communicate across gender, class, and language barriers. Their dedication has been proven by the increased test scores and increased participation and retention across all of our performing arts departments and all-school projects like our recent Musical Theater performances.
Our performing arts disciplines are comprised of several hundred 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students, many of whom come from bilingual or non-english speaking families, and/or receive free/reduced lunch, who are devoted, creative, and incredibly talented.
My students not only use performing arts as a practical application of their core curriculum, they use the expressive freedom to help with any personal problems and issues that they are facing in their life outside of class. These students want a theatrical space that meets their needs as both a learner and a performer.
My Project
This iPad Pro will be replacing a broken PC that we had in the technicians booth of our auditorium. That computer was used to store all types of media; sound effect and music library, and publicity pictures. In addition to these functions, the iPad Pro will also allow our students to use it as a teleprompter for our video projects, a camera for the students to take publicity pictures and classroom video projects, and be a tool for our stage managers to make running individual productions easier. By having all of these functions in one piece of cutting edge technology will boost student interest and student work efficiency.
