Help me give my students a carpet to create better acoustics that encourage student-to-student conversations and softer lighting to set the tone.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
I have a classroom of 24 enthusiastic learners. Almost half of them are English Language Learners. We try to give students many opportunities to practice meaningful talk using academic language. Our goal is to increase language production with all of our students. It is by expressing their learning that they are able to reinforce the language and concepts. We model conversations and allow students to practice with a partner. This means that there are many simultaneous conversations in our classroom.
Our school is an older building with wood floors and cement walls.
This creates lots of extra unwanted noise. We are attempting to eliminate some of the noise by covering the floor with a large carpet. The lamp is to soften the lighting and allow us to turn off the bright lights. This creates a more conversational atmosphere.
The carpet will help with the classroom acoustics and atmosphere to support learning conversations. Many of our students are English Language Learners and all of our students need to practice holding academic conversations to further their learning. One of our classroom goals is to increase the amount of time students use to discuss their learning. We provide sentence stems and key vocabulary to support the practice. Our classroom is large with wooden floors and cement walls, which amplify the noise and make it difficult to have simultaneous conversations. The floor lamp is to allow us to shut off the bright florescent lights and use mostly natural lighting for a calmer aesthetic.
