Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The great majority of the students at our Elementary face challenges of poverty, family instability, and emotional struggles. Although our students may face some of these problems at home, most come to school every day willing to learn.

My students have definitely shown this kind of positive attitude in times of need.

My students enjoy learning about the world around them and have inquisitive minds. They want to make a difference in the world and so do the many young leaders that attend our school.

Our students come to school with many social and emotional issues which are directly related to their underprivileged conditions. In fact, our neighborhood is plagued with drugs, violence, and gangs which our children can fall victims to, but by providing our students opportunities that appeal to them we hope that they in turn make a conscious decision to change not only their lives, but those of their community. Investing in our most underprivileged children is investing in the future of our planet.

My Project

The net and tennis racquets will get my students moving and on their way to making healthier choices and will in turn positively impact their academic engagement.

As a dedicated teacher, I feel the need to do more than just lend a helping hand to the students and families who walk into my life.

I have a strong desire to walk into the lives of our underprivileged children and touch them in a way that they will find comfort and solace in their difficult conditions; and in turn, they will also find inspiration in overcoming all odds and make a conscious decision to change not only their lives, but those of their community. Investing in our most underprivileged children is investing in the future of our planet.

I seek to bring my students new opportunities in the hope that one day our children may be able to reciprocate the opportunities and the generosity bestowed on them.
