Mrs. Doster from Atlanta GA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students books on their reading level to build their self confidence.

My class is made of a diverse group including students with learning disabilities, those with social-emotional issues, and general education students. As you can imagine, they are a very vibrant and boisterous group. They have dreams of becoming architects, biologists, archaeologists, police officers, and teachers, just to name a few.
I view my students as the sprouting buds after a harsh, cold winter because of the poverty they bloom from and their potential.
Many of my students have experienced things that should only be seen in movies such as living in drug and gang-infested neighborhoods and financial hardships in the home. Yet their determination and drive to change their future allow them to believe they can achieve something greater.
Every school day, my students come prepared to give 110% of themselves. They love to collaborate on class assignments and love class discussions. A successfully funded project will do more than just provide supplies. It will help build my students' confidence in humanity.
First grade is where you learn to read. No other grade level is structured to build the stage for readers. Therefore, it is my duty to provide my students with as many opportunities to experience success as possible.
I am building confident readers.
Once my project is fully funded, I will allow my students to read the requested books independently and complete online AR tests (AR test check for students’ comprehension of the book they have read). If a student successfully reads and passes an AR test, he or she could earn prizes; possibly have their picture taken and placed on the wall in our school’s hallway, with the title of star reader. Help me provided my students with AR books they may read and take AR tests.
