My Students

Hello! I teach 5 amazing students with disabilities. I work at a D75 school in a 6:1:1 classroom. The school is located in a lower-income neighborhood. My students have varying levels of abilities and skills. To keep their names private I will use: A, B, C, D, E.

Student A is the highest functioning leveled student in the class.

He loves animals, reading National Geographic, and is great at math. Student B is a very interesting student. B loves to read the calendar in the morning. B always chooses an iPad for his preferred object. It is a great motivator for B. We are working on B's writing skills and math skills. B is good at math and prefers quiet places. Student C is very shy. He prefers communicating via an electronic device. Student D is energetic and fast. D knows what she wants and tries to always go for it. She loves good smells and sensory objects. My last student, E is filled with a lot of laughter to make everyone smile. He is great at cut and paste tasks, as well as, matching with velcro. I am very passionate and dedicated to teaching them life skills.

My Project

My students are learning various work tasks, such as shredding, sweeping, dusting, wiping. A printer would vastly increase their independence. I plan to teach them to type their work- especially the students who communicate via technology- and learn how to print it. Another use for the printer is to create and print flyers for our recycling project. My students will have the opportunity to print and distribute throughout the school. So far we have earned $5.00 by recycling bottles. With the help of the school, my students can earn more money recycling and earning a great prize with their money. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
