My Students

Students are scholars at our school. We are a diverse school, serving scholars of various socioeconomic and ethnic diversity as well as levels of academic achievement backgrounds. Despite their differences and hardships, our scholars are determined and motivated to do their best. They need to feel safe, wanted, and respected to keep being motivated and engaged in school.

Scholars need access to supplies and technology to stimulate their creativity and foster an authentic love of learning and exploring.

Our school is a Title I school, and all of our 400+ scholars receive free breakfast and lunch.

The cost of supplies can add up quickly, especially when your scholars are extremely enthusiastic about learning. My scholars love hands-on, tactile projects where they can create and manipulate objects. To help engage them in learning, I want to provide them with as many resources and supplies for these types of experiences as I can.

My Project

Current events are showing us that students need to know more about the world other than a given history month. They need to know how important women, African Americans, and Hispanics are in our community and to the world at large. My students need non-fiction books that will show them the true stories of the different people who have helped shaped our world, and who are still changing it now.

Students need to learn that they are capable of more than just dreaming of greatness, but that they are actually capable of achieving greatness.

This is a hard concept for even adults, but I know that this collection of books will help students see how amazing others are, and what they did to achieve greatness. Students need learn to accept others for who they are as a person and not what they look like. They need to be inspired to greatness, they need to know it's possible. They need to know there's more to their lives than what is portrayed on tv.

This collection of books tells the true stories of the struggles and obstacles that people who are considered minorities had to deal with and how they overcame them. Students need to learn about struggles of those in the past, to help them deal with the struggles of the present. I truly believe these books will help me achieve this goal.
