My Students

I teach in a moderate to severe TK-1st grade special ed classroom in East Oakland. My kids have a variety of disabilities but most of them are diagnosed with Autism, and many of them are nonverbal. Most of them grew up in East Oakland, much of which is neglected and underfunded, and almost all of my students are Black. This is the first year many of my students have been in school because of COVID.

I know that my students will have to struggle throughout their life so I want to ensure that they have everything they need to build a solid academic and social-emotional foundation while they're in my class.

I want to make sure that they have the resources to be happy and successful, and I want them to know that they're important and deserve access to the same resources and learning as everyone else. All of my kids are so smart and loving and they try their best every single day, and I want to give them as much as I possibly can while they're in my classroom.

My Project

I use a lot of worksheets, drawing, and writing activities in my class, but it can be difficult to find quality activities online for free and I don't have the means to constantly purchase them. Almost every time I search for a worksheet, I see one that would be perfect on TPT but I don't want to spend the money to purchase it. I usually end up finding a lower quality activity for free or spending a lot of time creating my own worksheets to use for class.

These gift cards would save me a lot of time and money, both of which are already so limited for teachers, and would let me get the best possible materials for my kids.
