Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our low-income/high-poverty school district, the students in my class are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with opportunities to engage in creative and meaningful learning experiences. Along with all the non-school related issues that these students face, 90% of these children are performing well below grade level expectations. I was brought into this district to work with the severely struggling readers to try to shrink the achievement gap.

The students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional challenges.

Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. My small groups serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities and even emotional disturbance. The typical student in my groups reads 2 to 3 grade levels below their grade level expectations.

My Project

This will allow teachers access to the most up-to-date, creative and motivating learning tools out there! Students will be able to use these resources to play hands-on learning games that are differentiated to each of their needs. Teachers will be able to choose which items they would like to have to use as a teaching tool in their classrooms. The best part about this project is that it is teachers supporting teachers through sharing activities to reach our most challenging learners. Each child matters and they should have only the best!
