This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 8th grade math, the inclusion of calculators is essential for several reasons, enhancing both learning and problem-solving skills. Firstly, calculators provide flexibility to students solving complex tasks, enabling students to focus on understanding the mathematical concepts, while also verifying the accuracy of the complex calculations. Calculators promote efficiency, especially when dealing with multiple levels of numerical computations or intricate algebraic equations.

Moreover, calculators serve as valuable aids in fostering a deeper comprehension of mathematical concepts.

They allow students to experiment with various inputs and observe the corresponding outputs, facilitating the idea of math being an investigation, not just an opportunity to find an answer. Calculators are also instrumental in reinforcing concepts like functions and graphing, encouraging exploration and visualization of mathematical relationships.

As technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily life, access to calculators equips students with the practical skills they will undoubtedly use in the future. In essence, making calculators available in my 8th grade math classes, streamlines the learning process but also prepares students for the technological demands of the modern world.
