Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have various learning disabilities which impact their learning. I would like to help them have a better understanding of classical literature by incorporating access to them in various forms such as graphic novels like "Jane Eyre" and audio versions of texts like "The Bluest Eye" where they can listen to it with headphones and read along with their book.
Having multiple entry points to access the texts will allow students the visual or audio that many of them need to form a better understanding of the materials in which they are required to read.
These materials allow my students who are reading below grade
level to feel successful with the reading required of them. It also makes it more enjoyable for them, which in turn will hopefully make more of my students feel more comfortable with books and reading in general.
