My students need 7 copies each of "The Pigman", "Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds", and "Fiddler on the Roof" to compete in an extracurricular academic competition.

These are self-motivated students, grades 6-8, who have the desire to go above and beyond what is required of them during the academic day. I teach English in a mid-size middle school at the edge of a large urban area. Approximately 50% of my students come from one-parent homes and qualify for free lunch.

We need supplies (copies of The Pigman, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds, and Fiddler on the Roof)) so that we can compete in an academic competition.

My seven students will read novels, short stories, and poetry, and then in April we'll compete against neighboring schools in a very challenging academic competition.

Last year we came in first-place against 20 other schools, but this year we'll be unable to compete without the materials, and we can't afford to buy the books. By funding this project, you will be showing middle school students that people in the "real world" value and see the importance in getting a good education.
