Help me give my students a new "calm" classroom rug. We need a calmer colored academic rug. Our old rug is worn out and we need to change up the color scheme to make it quieter for learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are awesome! They are very diverse and come from many backgrounds, but we all have a common share in our love of learning and sharing. The students this year are called the Super Bears! We choose a classroom name each year to support our students in their interests and needs and they create the classroom name based on "who" they are!
Students who come to my school are an in inner city low-income district and all of them come with some sort of individualized needs and wants in life.
We have wonderful, supportive families in the school, but we are are always needing a few extra things to make our days brighter and better in our classroom. The Super Bears are a fantastic group of kids that are kind, caring, friendly and empathetic.
My Project
This special rug will better facilitate quiet, clam learning and comfort in the classroom. The rug is designed with letters and numbers and exudes a serenity and tranquility to it that will help soothe and slow even the busiest preschoolers.
We will use the carpet for comfort as well as using it for games I've created with the numbers and the letters.
It helps to have an oval shape, letters, and numbers for "spots" on the carpet and the keep them all inside the letters area for circle time and story time.
We need new rugs and our district serves mostly low-income students and lacks the funds for new items in a timely manner. We will gratefully use the rug as a tool and a pleasure.
