Each child brings with them their own unique set of experiences and ways of interacting with the world. In their own special ways they approach everything with wonder and enthusiasm. It is so much fun to witness their discoveries every day.
We are a classroom of scientists and explorers, musicians and storytellers, meeting each day as artists and engineers, question-askers and answer-seekers.
Our days are filled with smiles and conversations. Many of the students in my class have already experienced many hardships and this is their very first time going to school. I would like to be able to offer my students the materials and opportunities needed to build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning...and of loving learning! Each student deserves access to the materials, experiences, and opportunities necessary for future success, in school and beyond.
My Project
With more than half the class dual language learners from all over the world, play is an important vehicle for us to learn words, build confidence with our vocabularies, and practice communicating our ideas. Since children can have such diverse learning styles, when they are able to explore different materials and test their theories, they have a wonderful opportunity to develop their own thoughts and express them effectively to others. The children in my classroom are curious and creative.
These books, animals and colorful scarves will strengthen our play.
The waterway building set will lead to hours of fun and STEM exploration at the water table, a place they love to be! A variety of animals will allow us to learn about different countries and promote global conversations. Silk scarves will transform our dance movements, while making excellent terrain for the animals as they become grass, mountains, or the ocean through our imaginations. White lab coats will help us become scientists and doctors at science and in dramatic play. The turtle puppet will help strengthen our storytelling and aid in feelings discussions along with the new books. A laminating machine will allow us to laminate materials and pictures to strengthen their play and learning and creating lasting documentation.
The cognitive, social, creative, and language skills that my classroom will gain from these toys and books will go a long way towards instilling a love of learning and discovery.
