Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a combination class of transitional kindergartners and kindergarteners this year. Being in a multi-age classroom has been so enjoyable. My students are goofy, loving and curious. We start off slow with our numbers and letters with the idea that the strong foundations will yield greater academic growth as our students progress in their educational journeys.

However, there are challenges and responsibilities in making sure differentiation for my transitional kindergarteners and kindergarteners is developmentally appropriate.

Having centers embedded in our phonics, writing and mathematics blocks allows me to work with my kindergarteners in a small group. It also allows students to collaborate and work with one another in multisensory ways. The materials I am requesting through this project would either help make centers play mats (e.g. letter formation mats, adding/subtracting game mats), or help create centers that would be iterative and engaging (e.g. alphabet letter sound sorts, counting puzzle cards).
