Help me give my students hands-on educational resources that will be useful for center time and independent work. These supplies will enhance student's learning and reinforce what they are learning in the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 school where students come from low income, single family homes, and live in a poverty stricken environment. Despite these circumstances they still come to school because they are eager to learn, build friendships, and feel safe in their environment. Many of the students do not have resources but they still deserve an opportunity to learn.
My group of 5 and 6 year olds enjoy hands-on activities, learning through play, story time, centers, and developing roles in the classroom.
My students are very creative. They love books, field trips, enhancing their vocabulary, and to sing educational songs!
The goal at my school is to create an environment where all children are accepted. We create a positive learning environment an culture where students feel safe and love to learn. As educators, we strive to expose students to technology, different ideas, and help them understand that education is important no matter where you come. School is a place to learn, have fun, and express yourself!
My Project
Students having writing boards will give them the opportunity to practice writing their numbers, letters, and words. The student Rekenrek will help students practice addition and subtraction. The short vowel centers will teach students how to spell CVC words. Reading is an important skill students need to learn in Kindergarten, therefore they need to learn all the foundational skills to support them in Reading and these activities will help them.
Students will learn through play, I will write sight words on the Jenga pieces so students can work in small groups to learn their words.
The ready to write prompt boxes will help become better writers and produce their own writing pieces. Calendar time is always the best part of the day because students get to participate in saying the days of the weeks and months.
