My Students

My students have become engaged learners. When I read a book at the rug, they notice, wonder and make connections. During center time, my students need to continue to make connections to letters, words and books.

My class is full of energy and wonder.

Five and six year old children needs to touch and feel everything they learn about. I am in a constant search for materials to create engaging centers for my curious kiddos. My students need materials to explore.

My Project

My students need literacy center manipulatives: letter stampers, magnetic letters, magnet wands and book bins to organize our reading center. We will use these materials daily during our work board literacy centers. The stampers will be used for letter identification, sight word practice, first and last name writing practice and much more. The magnet letters will be used daily as well. My students will use these to create word families, sight words, and letter identification. Some students enter kindergarten knowing all the letters in the alphabet, while other students come to school without any letter experience. My job is to differentiate each center for each child. Their abilities differ greatly so these materials will help me reach each student at their level.

These center materials will make our literacy time easier to plan and easier to implement.

It will help me differentiate my literacy centers. Our reading library needs to be organized by genre and level. One of our literacy centers is independent reading. By having the book bins, our library will be color coded and organized so the children can find books that are just right for them.
