Help me give my students lots of ABC books! This collection of alphabet books will give my students plenty of exposure to letters and language. We also need a way to store all of the new books.
This will be the third year that we have had three rounds of full-day kindergarten at our school (no more half-day)! Our students often come to us with little experience interacting with other children their own age. I am so excited to have the opportunity to meet their varying needs in a full day. This full-day time allows us to put playtime back into the kindergarten schedule!
We have many students who need stability and guidance at our school.
They all need some extra love and warmth when they enter our room. We are working hard to build a special community that will carry them through all of the years of school (and life) they have ahead.
Our school is working hard to build vertical alignment, using Units of Study in reading, writing, and phonics. We are starting our second year implementing all three. We also make social-emotional learning a priority in every classroom.
My Project
We started using the Units of Study in Reading and Phonics last year. However, I had to skip several lessons due to lack of materials. The units have quite a bit of teaching around ABC books. Students learn from and compare different books.
This extensive collection of ABC books will help my students to love letters and language.
I have picked some books with a wealth of information, others with only one or two words per page, as well as some bilingual books. This will help make the books accessible and interesting for every learner in my room. Some other materials I have included in this project are to help store the books in our classroom library.
