This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello! I am a speech-language pathologist in East Los Angeles. I am setting up this Donors Choose to support my Intellectual Disabled - Moderate classroom. This classroom supports complex communicators. In collaboration with the teacher, we are planning on supporting students with AAC devices in the classroom and at home. The iPad is used to provide a classroom model for all students as well as exposure for incoming students who do not have access or any exposure to AAC.

The portable chargers are to support the students who already have AAC devices to keep them charged at all times, whether it be at home or at school.

This will support their learning and communication, especially with their peers whether it is in the play area or auditorium. My students will not have to fear that their "voice" will be uncharged and taken away from them while communicating.

We are planning on creating a second project to raise money for actual AAC programs (LAMP, TouchChat, TD Snap, CoughDrop, etc.) to find the best communication system for our students.
