This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders are some of the most thoughtful students you could ever meet. Each day, they bring with them a sense of compassion and curiosity, which makes our discussions about identity, diversity, and inclusion unique and powerful. They love to learn about themselves and each other through an appreciative lens.

My Project

My 3rd-grade class loves reading! We adore our independent reading time, but we really, really treasure our read-aloud time together as a class. It is a sacred part of our day because it allows us to bond over a great story, connect plot points and characters to our lives, and study the author's craft together. Novel studies are an incredible way to access all kinds of learning - language arts, reading fluency, science, social studies, social-emotional learning - the list goes on and on! The novel Wish will provide the opportunity for us to experience a new story together!
