A Window to the World

Help me give my students a television to be able to explore the world around them, give technology-rich presentations, and the ability to learn in fun and creative ways.

My Students

My students are so eager to learn new things and see new things. They challenge me with their questions and we find answers together.

Many of my students come from lower-income families and do not get to see much of the world other than their own backyard.

Through the facilitation of learning in the classroom, these students can experience the world around them to gain a greater appreciation of all the diversity in the world. As well as, gaining an understanding that each one of them can have a positive impact on our world.

My Project

Television can be used as an effective learning tool in the classroom. It can increase literacy skills, help address current events and social issues, as well as capture the student's interest, which keeps them engaged. The use of visual components in the classroom can help with learning and retention rates. For many students being able to see what is happening on a global scale would not happen if not for lessons taught in school. Adding a television to the classroom can assist with broadening the horizons of the students.

A television can also be used as a tool for presenting student work to the class.

Through the use of technology, the students can create a presentation of an assigned subject and project their finished product on the television to present their new knowledge to the class. It will allow students to incorporate digital images and even insert videos in their presentations.

Not only is this an engaging way to use technology, but it is also essential for their future. Businesses and corporations hold meetings using this same principle, projecting on a television and presenting to business peers or supervisors. The aspect of speaking in front of a crowd is an added bonus. Speaking in front of others can be a scary thing, but when a student is excited to share what they created, the fear subsides and excitement takes over. This is also an effective tool for students who may have anxiety and special needs.
