Help me give my students a book to love as we have been reading The Wild Robot and they are entranced. I would love for them each to have their own set of the duo!

My Students

My students are amazing. Many of them come from difficult home lives and still have the kindest hearts I have ever met. I have 19 seven and eight year olds. Those 19 students cover a large range of abilities. Some are still reading at a kindergarten level and some can read on a 4th grade level. My goal is to help them all develop a love of reading, regardless of their levels, by finding books that interest them. As I always tell them, you can only be one person but books will let you live a million lives.

My Project

Many of my students don't read books outside of the classroom. They spend their time playing games and watching videos. These books will allow students to read along with me. They will have the book to refer back to during their independent reading time and hopefully when we do a learning project about the text. Looking at themes of respect throughout the book. Respect is one of our 3 key principals through the school.

Then the students will be able to take these books home, as something to read outside the building and a way to share their love of reading with their families.
