Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are excited about learning and love using technology as part of their day.
I teach a group of twenty-four First Grade students.
My classroom is made up of a diverse group of students with different cultural backgrounds, economic levels, as well as English Language abilities. They come with varying skills and a wide range background knowledge. There are students who excel in all curricular areas and others who are working hard on developing the basic skills. Together, we are building our knowledge base.
My students are enthusiastic about school and are eager to learn. They see themselves as capable learners and are willing to work hard every day to improve their skills. At school, they are challenged and encouraged to keep trying when something does not come easy. Our school provides a safe and nurturing environment that is child-centered.
My Project
The two Apple iPads will make a significant difference in the students' learning by serving as tools to increase access across the curriculum. These resources will be added to the technology center to help target the specific learning needs of students and reinforce concepts previously taught. The increased use of iPads will provide students with a deeper and clearer understanding of the advantages of incorporating technology into today's classrooms.
Students will be totally engaged and eager to learn because of the high appeal of the Apple iPads.
There is a wide variety of excellent educational apps available for review and practicing reading, writing, math and science. Students will be provided with a focused and personalized approach to learning. They will also have instant access to pictures, graphics and vocabulary to enrich their learning and provide the much needed background knowledge. Through the use of these tablets, students will have access to many activities that they may otherwise never have access to. The iPads will enable students to work towards meeting and exceeding grade level expectations, while allowing the teacher to service a wide range of students on an individual basis.
During our daily workshop time, students will be allowed independent practice time to reinforces the skills taught in formal reading, writing, and math lessons. One groups will work with me, another with a parent volunteer, and the rest of the students work independently in groups on various activities including our technology center. Students will also have access to the iPads throughout the rest of the day. All student's will benefit tremendously.
