I work at a Tile I school in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood. My students are amazing; they just haven't been afforded the opportunities of the other students in the district.
Currently, we are in a storage room that has been converted into a classroom.
Instructional resources are hard to come by, but we make the most with what we have. My heart breaks for these students considering their challenging learning environment. But, with your help, we can guide these wonderful learners to the path of success. Thanks!
The items on my list will create a comfortable learning environment that students will look forward to walking into! The first step to learning is a willingness to improve. A more comfortable room will encourage students to take pride in their room and pride in their work. The area rug will be an exciting addition to our small space.
When your classroom is a converted storage closet, any improvement is more than welcome.
To us, the classroom set of textbooks means no more sharing books or looking over your neighbor's shoulder. Visual learners will be able to actually see the text, as opposed to listening to the teacher read aloud due to a shortage of books. Honestly, these books could change how my students view their education.
