Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Starting off a new school year can be overwhelming and intimidating, especially after the strange year we've had. Some students are no longer in the same class as their close friends from the previous year, some students are coming from different schools and meeting everyone for the first time, and for some students it is their very first day of school in the U.S.

I have seen that it makes a huge difference to give my students some special materials to call their own on the first day of school.

Even though small items like pencil pouches and water bottles are easy to take for granted, giving these things to each individual student strengthens their sense of ownership, responsibility, and belonging in the classroom. The folders and labels will help students keep track of which materials are theirs. The headphones will allow them to hear their lessons during computer work. These supplies will help my students feel prepared and excited to start off the new 2023-2024 school year this fall.
