My students are awesome! These sixth through eighth-grade students come from a community in the heart of central Portland. The population at this school includes a variety of learners as well as the strong staff who are passionate about their roles in these children's lives.
My students are English language learners who weave a rich fabric of languages, cultures, and experiences.
We are fortunate to be able to share our experiences and understanding and to learn from others in our classroom space.
We have a wide range of learners in our classroom with a variety of interests and reading levels. Often, students are drawn to graphic novels as a dynamic entry point for literature. It is awesome that graphic novels have the summoning effect on so many students; I plan to use that draw and diversify the inventory of our limited graphic novel selection
I would like to provide books that challenge the readers and include many supporting images that could assist an emerging reader.
I chose books that teach about history through a variety of lenses as well as current dilemmas youths face. My goal is to broaden their reading scope.
