A Trip Through Space- Models, Activities, and Fun!
My students need visual models of the solar system. The Globe Big Blue With Cover demonstrates day and night. This model is a great way for students to see the pattern of day and night.
I have a great group of students this year! They love to be up and moving around the classroom completing hands-on activities. I teach in a school where 80% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our students love school and can't wait to get to school and eat breakfast and learn. A lot of our students struggle with sitting still and have a lot of baggage from home. My goal is to make the classroom environment welcoming and safe.
My Project
I would love to have my students take a trip through space to explore the solar system! It would make the patterns of revolution, rotation, and day and night of each planet a lot easier to learn. Since this is not possible, I would like to bring space to my classroom by purchasing models and activities to help my students get a better understanding about the solar system. Reading and researching facts about Earth and space is very important; however, several of my students are visual learners and would benefit from an inflatable solar system hanging in the classroom. They would also be able to see day and night all over the world with the enclosed glass shadow box. Seasons will be a little easier for the students to comprehend if they had the seasons model that shows the actual tilt of the earth along with a digital number to show the temperature of the current season.
