This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a self contained classroom for children with Autism. Our school is located in an area that has a high level of poverty. Nearly all of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Technology has the ability to engage student who have limited motor skills.
This will give our students the opportunity to access additional interactive math, science and reading activities. It will open doors for my students to experience as well as achieve new goals.
My Project
My student have difficulty using the mouse when participating in activities on the computer. Using a touch screen computer will allow them better access to more interactive programs. The additional use of the the headphones will allow the students to work on the computers with minimal distractions for other students in the area.
My students love to work on math, reading and communication skills on the computer and a touch screen will increase their ability to work independently.
My students will be able to use interactive sites such abcya.com, abcmouse.com, and uptoten.com. These sites along with several science and math computer programs, will allow my students to independently engage in great learning experiences.
