Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning students enter the classroom eager and excited for the day ahead. Every experience is new to the young child. What better way to jump start their 21st century skills than with a Makerspace in our preschool classroom.
My students are awesome!
At just 3 and 4 years old, they have an incredible sense of curiosity and wonder. They are inquisitive and interested in exploring anything and everything.
Two questions I hear in my classroom all day, every day...
Why? How?
I would love to provide them more opportunities to answer those questions as they develop their own problem solving and technological skills.
My Project
Seeing a 3 or 4 year old child independently solve a problem or accomplish a task independently for the first time is one of the greatest moments in life. I feel so privileged that I get to witness these moments every day.
My students need science and engineering materials including Lego bricks and baseplates, work gloves, Science Discovery kits and children's tools to create a Maker Space in our classroom.
My students will use the materials to create a Preschool Maker Space. They will learn how to create, solve problems, tinker, and make!
By exploring and using these materials, the students will develop their fine motor, problem solving, speaking, listening, comprehension, planning, initiative, creative, and observational skills. But that just scratches the surface!
This preschool Makerspace will help to develop, at an early age, the critical thinkers of tomorrow.
The experiences the students will have in their most formative years will set them up for a lifetime of learning and the careers of tomorrow.
