My students need a laptop computer and speakers to access educational websites during literacy centers and to connect to the projector we will receive soon.
The world is changing, and my students need access to technology to keep up! Please help make sure these first graders aren't left behind!
I have a brand new first grade class in an urban public school.
The students at our school are mostly Hispanic and come from low-income families. Many do not have computers at home, or do not have family members who are able to teach them how to use technology and navigate the internet safely.
A new laptop would make such a positive impact in our classroom! Our school has purchased educational computer programs such as Raz-Kids and Education City, and I would love for my students to be able to take advantage of these resources in my classroom. Programs such as these not only provide opportunities for students to practice leveled reading, grammar, and math, but they also teach computer literacy!
Soon our class will also receive a projector, at which point we would be able to use our laptop to show video clips, photographs, and text for shared reading on a screen big enough for the whole class to comfortably watch! This would provide opportunities to delve deeper into our science and social studies curriculum, opening up the world to these curious learners!
Please help my first graders learn through technology.
As a teacher, I want so badly to give them the world -- but I need your help to do it! This laptop would go a long way towards making this dream come true!
