My Project

I'm absolutely thrilled by the enthusiasm my students bring to their learning journey!

Each of the books I've chosen offers unique opportunities to engage with literature while honing various skills:

- Hidden Figures (Young Readers Edition): I'm excited to explore the fascinating history behind this book with my students. It encourages critical thinking and analysis and dives into themes of perseverance and the importance of STEM education. Through discussions and activities, my students will develop their comprehension skills while being inspired by the remarkable individuals portrayed in the story.

- Percy Jackson: Rick Riordan's series is a fantastic choice for sparking imagination and creativity. Students will enhance their vocabulary and understanding of mythology. The fast-paced plots and relatable characters will keep them turning the pages, strengthening their reading stamina along the way.

- Two Roads: This novel offers an exploration of identity, family, and resilience during a challenging historical period. I'm excited to guide my students through discussions about the themes and character motivations found in the book.

- The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (Young Readers Edition): I'm inspired by the true story of William Kamkwamba and can't wait to share it with my students. Through his journey, they'll enhance their reading comprehension skills and gain insight into scientific concepts and the power of determination. This book will spark meaningful discussions about innovation, problem-solving, and the importance of resilience in overcoming obstacles.

Each book offers a rich tapestry of learning opportunities, from vocabulary expansion to character analysis, and historical context to critical thinking. Additionally, students will explore Social-Emotional Skills in each novel. By engaging with diverse texts, my students will strengthen their reading and writing skills while broadening their understanding of the world around them.

Ms. Wilson will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 11.
