I'm beginning to foster a love of reading for my students, and what better way to do that than to have comfortable seating options available for when they're reading! As adults, we know there is nothing like sitting curled up on the couch or in a big chair and spend the afternoon reading. Students are at their desks and in their chairs for most of the day, but reading is all about comfort; they need places they can cozy up and dive into the world in their book. By providing bean bags and giant cushions, my students will look forward to having a place where they can focus on their stories and be comfortable while doing so. We read for 20 minutes, 3 times a week. Some days students may want to be on the floor, other days a bean bag, and sometimes their desks. Options make kids WANT to learn, and more eager and willing.
