A Tablet Is the Key To Interaction When It Comes To Autism

My students need a tablet with a keyboard and cover to help them get a true interactive experience.

My Students

My students all have special needs. Most of them tend to be shy and reluctant to interact with others. You can help them by donating so that we can get a tablet computer. The apps and picture taking capability, along with the ease of transporting it, will truly make a difference in their lives.

The majority of my students have Autism.

The rest have other disabilities, but they all deal with the same struggles every day. I work at a small school that serves students with special needs. They are just like their peers at regular high school campuses. They like fashion, music, dancing, etc. However, most of them have difficulty expressing themselves, and some don't speak at all.

My Project

I am always looking for ways to help my students express themselves and communicate. I struggle to find things that interest them and keep them engaged. I have read some recent research about tablet computers and how they are helping to transform the lives of children with special needs. There are many applications that have been created specifically for children with special needs. The children are engaged and make progress quickly. The ability to take pictures and instantly see them is a big hit when my students are in speech class. I would like to carry that over into my class and expand on it, with a classroom tablet. It is easier for them to talk to a picture than a person sometimes. They are able to answer questions that they usually wouldn't be able to answer. My students will benefit immensely from this device.

This tablet will do wonders for the communication and academic skills of my students.

This tablet would be another tool in my tool belt for bringing out my student's true abilities and discovering their interests. Research shows just how effective tablets are in reaching students with special needs. Your support would be very appreciated.
