Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My role as a special education teacher involves creating engaging and accessible curriculum materials, modeling lessons, and supporting students with strategies that make learning meaningful, hands-on, and STEM-focused. Across my different class periods, I work with a wide range of learners—each with unique strengths, challenges, and ways of exploring the world. My students are curious, eager, and capable of achieving great things when given the right tools and supports.

To effectively support my students in STEM and other subjects, I need a reliable and versatile device that helps me design, present, and adapt lessons seamlessly throughout the day.

A Microsoft Surface with a keyboard will transform my classroom. It will let me create interactive, scaffolded STEM lessons, model technology and problem-solving strategies, provide small-group and one-on-one support, track student progress in real time, and collaborate with co-teachers and paraprofessionals. Portable and versatile, it will travel with me across classrooms, serving as a mobile hub for accessible, engaging, and innovative STEM learning.

With this technology, I can better ensure that every student receives high-quality, individualized STEM instruction. It will make me more efficient and flexible, while allowing me to create lessons that are motivating and accessible to all learners. Most importantly, it will empower my students to explore, experiment, and build confidence in STEM and other subjects—preparing them for success in school and beyond.
