Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are young and energetic! They come to school with the determination to learn and make friends. They are caring and strong. Our school is in an urban area.

Many of my students live in poverty.

They struggle with having basic necessities, along with school supplies. Sometimes school is a place of refuge. They enjoy helping each other and me!

My students have continuously taught me just as much, if not more than I have taught them this year.

They have taught me, unconditional love, that young people can be so supportive, and that success can be achieved with nothing more than determination and much more. I have such a great group of students!

My Project

A couple of standards that are very important for my students to master in first grade are sequencing the events and retelling stories. The Story Telling Kit will provide my students with the pieces to use to help them retell popular stories and the books will be there for them to read to each other and to reference for sequencing.

My students love to tell each other stories and these items will help them do just that while keeping their learning on track!

We have a chart stand that they can use to display the magnetic story pieces as they read to their peers.
