Mrs. Hunter from Verona MO is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

A Starry Night for Art in Verona.

Help me give my students some quality and basic art supplies. I see 400 students K-12 and I would like to be able to introduce some artist-grade supplies like the Prismacolor premier colored pencils.

My Students

Verona is a Title I school. My students are from a small, rural community. Art provides a place for [participants] to unpack and provide a space for them to really tell their stories and experience community. By allowing this to happen all students can find commonality and learn to relate to each other. Art transcends language and culture.

I hope to provide some quality supplies that will enable them to fully express the struggles and triumphs faced by these great kids.

My Project

I want to ensure that not only enough paper, paint, and instruction possibilities are available to give them a good start but to go beyond that and offer fiber arts, ceramics and include some quality supplies like the Prismacolor premier pencils, watercolor paper, and some painting canvases. These are artist-grade that can be used by talented students who wish to make art their profession.

Students will learn to shade, blend, use perspective and use multiple types of media.

My classroom will be student-centered and will be a TAB (Teaching Artistic Behavior) classroom. This means that I will demonstrate multiple methods of producing art and students will participate in the mediums that inspire them the most. They will also get to choose their subject matter as long as they are school appropriate while they demonstrate the methods being taught.

There will be centers where they can gather around the type of art that they enjoy the most. Ex. Painting, drawing, fiber arts (tapestry weaving, knitting, crocheting, and textile art), ceramics, collage, jewelry making, pen and ink, sculpture, etc.

Please help us get off to a good start with some extra supplies that will enable them to create various art mediums and I will try to build off of this over the next few years.
