This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There is a lot that happens during the day at school, and sometimes kids just need a little distraction--a positive distraction!

Squishy sensory toys offer numerous benefits, including stress relief, improved focus, and enhanced fine motor skills.

Squishy toys and slime can also be helpful for individuals with conditions like ADHD or anxiety, providing a tactile outlet for nervous energy and promoting emotional regulation. These toys are helpful for stress relief and emotional regulation because the tactile sensation of squishing and kneading a squishy toy can be soothing and calming, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. These toys improve focus and concentration because the sensory stimulation of squishies can help individuals with ADHD or other attention challenges to focus their attention on the task at hand. These toys will also aid fine motor skill development because manipulating squishy toys strengthens hand and finger muscles, improves hand-eye coordination, and can be beneficial for individuals developing fine motor skills. Squishies provide a satisfying sensory experience that can be particularly appealing to individuals who enjoy tactile stimulation. Squeezing and manipulating squishies can provide a safe and healthy way to express emotions, particularly for individuals who struggle with verbalizing their feelings. Sharing and playing with squishy toys can promote social interaction and cooperation, according to Kids Spot and engaging with squishies can help children develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of cause and effect, notes TP Toys.

i am requesting a variety of squishy items because they will help my students learn to self regulate. Growing Kind notes that sensory toys, including squishies, can help children develop self-regulation skills, such as managing impulses and calming down.

There are so many benefits to sensory toys. Unfortunately, there is usually very little to no money in the budget for such a useful tool with students.
