This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a high poverty area, so providing quality things is so important to me! I want to make sure they feel safe and comfortable; a luxury not all of my students have. They are smart, kind children that deserve the world!

Our classroom has a lot of love, but not a lot of money to spend on things we could really use in our classroom.

To have some things that would provide comfort would really increase learning and make the students happier.

My Project

In our classroom, we have a lot of floor space and only tile. We do not have a large carpet for our class to gather at. We would love to have a place where we can come together to read as a class, read independently, and do some work.

Having an area to come together to have classroom meetings, have read alouds, have some sharing time, and discussions would make a big difference in our classroom.

I want my students to feel like this is a home to them and that means providing comforts they may not have at their own homes.
