Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to start a new school year with energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing Kindergarten students! I want to help my students in every way that I can in order for them to be successful in reaching their goal of developing their skills and, of course, having fun!

From the start of the school day to the end, my students and I always gather on the rug to discuss different topics.

We use it as a sense of togetherness and a place where all voices are heard and ideas are shared. It is an area where my students do their "turn and talk," where they learn to take turns listening and sharing their thoughts and ideas. It is also a comfy spot to read a book during independent reading.

Unfortunately, our current rug has seen many years of activity and daily use. This new carpet will provide a vibrant space where my students can easily identify letters and sounds during phonics lessons using the letter borders. The bright, colored squares can be used as a fun Math lesson teaching the ten-frame using my students or during transitions! Most importantly, it will encourage them to sit together, fostering collaboration and communication skills.
