My Students

I have 21 lively second graders in my classroom all with ranging ability levels and home backgrounds. More than 80% of my students live in poverty, but they are so resilient and full of promise. I want to teach them that no matter where they are from, they can learn.

My students face many different challenges at home and in their relationships, and I have a beautiful opportunity to give them a great learning experience at school.

My students are still early learners, and I truly believe they deserve the best in the beginning school years!

My Project

Having seat sacks on their chairs would make a huge difference for my students! It's such a simple request, but it's turning into a necessity. Whenever we transition from one activity to another, we have to carve out time for students to go to their cubbies. Their cubbies are close together and sometimes that area of the classroom gets cluttered and chaotic. My students need a space at their table that is "theirs," since they share space with each other. We are also in need of a quality electric pencil sharpener, as our manual one has become detached from the wall and takes a significant amount of time and effort to sharpen a pencil.
