My students need storage space for our growing leveled and open library areas. The book display shelf will be home for engaging/culturally relevant literature to catch the eyes of my students. Organizing/accessibility is key!

My Students
Authors, engineers, mathematicians, inventors are a few of the titles that I give the students in my classroom as we explore new and exciting topics and concepts. My early primary students are at the age where they start to form their self-identity and confidence, especially within the subjects of literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
At this Title I school, over 80% of students are eligible for free/reduced lunch and 32% of students are English Language Learners.
This amazing international school is identified as a multi-cultural global community, that includes Spanish and Mandarin language programs.
In this school, data shows that over half of the 3rd-5th grade population are struggling in reading and math. This can be prevented in earlier grades with basic and engaging materials.
With over a third my stud nuts learning English as a second/third/fourth language, providing accessible literacy resources is imperative to my students success.
My Project
In my class, kindergarteners and first graders will not just be learning how to read, but how to love reading. As our classroom library is growing, my students need an organized leveled reading space in order to access materials easily and properly. Early primary students have a wide range of reading capabilities. Therefore, a wide range of book bins are essential.
Organized and accessible literacy materials are imperative to a successful classroom of little learners!
Books need to also be displayed at their height level so they can be more independent in retrieving them. we all know that learning to read isn't easy, let alone learning to read in your second/third/fourth language. These donations will make this process easier and increase my students engagement and interest in literature.
