Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The budding musicians in my classes work on developing skills performing on instruments or singing. An important part of their musical education is developing their listening skills. We need a high quality speaker for them to hear recorded music and accompaniment tracks.

Our school is in a rural area of Tennessee.

Many of our students come from low income families. Our school is vibrant, organized, and staffed with dedicated teachers and staff members who care deeply about the students and each other. The music program in this school has not been nurtured in several years and we are striving to develop a strong music program in both band and chorus. This year students in both music areas have made wonderful progress and are beginning to enjoy sharing their talents in performances.

My Project

Students benefit greatly from hearing recorded samples of high quality performances. This helps them understand the type of tone quality and musicianship we are working toward achieving. This speaker will allow students to hear recorded examples and also recorded accompaniment tracks for higher quality listening and performing.

Currently students are able to hear recorded examples through computer speakers.

This speaker will produce more clear, higher quality sound to help the students gain a more rich listening and performing experience.
